The Research On Open Space Of Hangzhou From The Perspective Of Public Activities In Southern Song Dynasty

It is essential to have public open space in Chinese ancient cities. As space entity, it has born the weight of the masses's social life for tens and thousands years, this open spaces were appeared especially important in Chinese feudalist society. We could perceive the society transition trajectory by analysising the characteristic of using this kind space.However, in Chinese ancient city history, we find that public open space all long disposte relatively edge status in cities, especially in capital before Tang Dynasty. It was set up comprehensively as far as Song Dynasty. In the beginning of Southern Song Dynasty, Zhaogou make Hangzhou the capital. With turning point of dynasty alternate, the revolutionary happened in the urban planning has changed the strict system of block and mart completely. To a certain extent, this change brought developing both at space and time. In this peculiar course of history, the characteristic of Hangzhou is a represented model.From the background of public open space in Southern Song Dynasty, the paper have some cognition on variety of changes the structure and form, by analysising the space types> changes and public activities.This paper provides a case to Chinese classical public open space for some usefull message.According by literatures, The paper has carried out classification on public open space, and then analysis distribute status, scale and internal pattern of street stories,public&private gardens,temples,cabaret,tea shopS,wazigoulan and landscape.Physical and non-physical elements have constituted the open space. The paper analyses the framework of public open space on physical element. It figures out that open space system composed by a series of node,boundary and construction, which lay particular stress on south and west of city.And from whole shape, the space presents the charaeter of spontaneity, whieh infiltrates from center to all around. Moreover, business,offer sacrifices and parade,touring with game,performing and watching have also constituted the non-physical element. It reviews the royal street and west-citywall road for example commerce. It points that have different at constraction and gradation, which have intense and loose in comparation, and also the diversity on business,sculpture,popularity,flexibility and strong impact of the North.Finally, the paper summarizes the changes of space on the folkway,faith and talent.and then point out the government effect.
