Duing to its brittle nature of the material, masonry structure has poor seismic performance. With the increasing use of age and seismic standards, seismic reinforcement of masonry buildings is increasingly prominent. Large quantities of existing masonry and various historical buildings in the world are in urgent need of good repair, reinforcement and protection. Therefore, the new reinforcement of masonry is of great practical significance.Reinforcing bars embedded technology reinforced masonry structures is a method, which is slotting on the masonry wall surface, through caulking clay and certain anchor measures,caulking clay, steel and the wall bond as a whole, resulting in improving the performance and the ultimate strength of masonry walls.In this paper, we have conducted a comprehensive exploratory study on reinforcing bars embedded in masonry structure and put forward some new ideas and methods:(1) Basing on the concept of reinforcing bars embedded in the wall,21 brick walls for reinforcement bars embedded experiment, the failure mode, bearing capacity, deformation capacity and consumption energy capacity under low level cyclic loading cycle were researched, and the effects of different reinforcement were compared.The results showed that:the specimen was under load friction shear compression failure or shear failure characteristics; Block masonry, steel and caulking the clay can work together very well, the compression deformation can be co-ordinated, The whole structure has good ductility and integrity, it can be used as a new way of wall reinforcement.(2) on the basis of the experimental study, we summed up the reinforced masonry wall reinforcement embedded features, comparative analyzed the failure modes and failure mechanism different aspect ratio of wall, and pointed out their respective characteristics, the same points and existing problems. the main factors are proposed.(3) According to the existing design formula of reinforced masonry, combined with the failure mechanism embedded in the wall reinforcement, shear span ratio,Vertical pressure and shear reinforcement ratio on the bearing capacity of walls were discussed, and then, through the analysis of test results,we proposed diagonal shear strength formula and the measured results were compared with calculation results of the formula, and the applicable conditions of the formula was discussed.
