The face seal with circumfererntial waviness is a kind of non-contacing mechanical seal, which combined hydrodynamic and hydrostatic. Its advantages is little wear, low leakage and long life and so on, thus this seal is applied to some important occasions which require high pressure, high speed, such as coolant pump shaft seal of nuclear power station. At present, the related researches of face seal with circumferrntial waviness are very few in domestic. Therefor, the research on the characteristic of face seal with circumfererntial waviness can be used to provid a theoretical basis for the design and use of seal, it has a very important academic and engineering significance.According to the different ways of producing circumferential waviness and radial taper which are on the face of seal ring, following this train of thought, the main researching objects in this paper can be divided into two parts:(1) Static characteristic research of face seal with circumferential waviness by processing; (2) Research of face seal with circumfererntial waviness by deformation. The main researching works in this paper are:The finite element model of liquid film between sealing faces was established, and the finite element numerical analysis program was written by Matlab software to solve for liquid film pressure distribution between sealing faces and to calculate the seal performance parameters. The effect of structure parameters, operating parameters of the face seal ring with circumfererntial and static deflection angle on the seal performance influence was analyzed. Paper proposed a new type of seal ring, and used finite element software Ansys to stimulate deformation of seal ring under actual working condition, and static pressure deformation test of seal was verified the proposed structure wether could achieve the desired effect of deformation.In a word, as the computational fluid dynamics, the finite element method to the theoretical basis, the paper deeply studies the steady-state characteristic of face seal with circumfererntial waviness, and the seal performance parameters are calculated, such as opening force, leakage, and then calculated results are analyzed and compared, and some influence laws are got from them. At the same time, paper proposes a new structure of seal ring which can produce circumfererntial waviness of face, and the new structure deformation of seal is verified on the theory and experiment. These researches provide theoretical support for engineering design and application of seal, and laies a theoretical basis for seal structure optimization and the seal performance improvement later.
