Rotary vane dryer is one kind of mixed-flow agitating dryers developed specially for high humility and viscosity materials. At present, it has occupied some places in drying industry and there exists large space to develop because of its irreplaceable advantages. Around some deficiencies of existing design method of rotary vane dryer, the paper analyzes the force state of the dryer in detail and conducts a comprehensive analysis by CAE technology, which provides scientific bases to design and improve the rotary vane dryer. Because the agitating shaft is the most important part in the dryer and also most likely to get failure, analyzing the agitating shaft is the main studying contents of this paper.A detailed discussion and analysis about changing of material status during drying process has done in the paper. It proposed that material experienced by Bingham fluid state to granular media state, came to the variation rules of related material properties, which provided scientific bases to explain the formation of dense core and establish the dense core. Then one kind of approximate calculation method of force condition about partial immersion vane is obtained by theoretical analysis. Based on previous research data, related parameters'formulas in drying process are developed. And the force of agitating shaft is known in according to the force status of single vane.Based on some reasonable simplifications, the finite element model of the shaft is built in the software of ANSYS. Stress distribution and vibration characteristics of the agitating shaft are obtained by static and dynamic analysis. According to time history analysis, fatigue life is obtained by the analysis and assessment of shaft's fatigue strength.In this paper, a research method of strength analysis of rotary vane dryer, based on finite element method, is given, making up for its lack of traditional design and providing a certain reference for the technological upgrading of enterprises...
