Roads are the critical infrastructure of the development of national economy, which are very considerable assets. Shenshan expressway is the important part of the expressway from Beijing to Shenyang, which is the key construction project during the 9th Five-Year Plan period province and China. The opening to traffic of Shenshan expressway of Liaoning very important to reinforce the political and economic development of Liaoning and entire northeast area of China, even the eastern regions of Inner Mongolia with inside Shanhaiguan Pass.Design and construction of Shenshan expressway of Liaoning is the first-class of China, but the early damage emerged continuously after is has been put into use. The government of Liaoning province had to put a large amount of funds to maintenance and repair it every year.Although the research on Shenshan expressway is carried out, but there is rare systematic analysis from the perspective of the damage of over-loaded vehicle to asphalt pavement. Three stages of investigation on road condition were carried on in Jinzhou Management Office of Shenshan expressway in order to expound the analysis on the damage of over-limited vehicle to road surface of Shenshan Expressway. The investigation shows that the main damages of the road surface are pit groove, rutting, crack, and flushing asphalt, those are, the investigation on the large numbers of pit groove appeared after the heavy snow in March 2007, the investigation on rutting under high temperature in July 2007, and the investigation on the whole line in Jinzhou in March 2008. It is found that, beside the cracks, the damages to the road surface still existed after the maintenance in November 2007.The causes of the damages of pit groove, rutting, crack, and flushing asphalt are analyzed individually, based on the investigation of road condition and the pavement structure design and construction. The residual shearing strain of asphalt pavement after a vehicle passed was calculated by stimulating the viscoelasticity characteristic of mix material of asphalt, using viscoelasticity theory and Burges model. The influences of the speed of vehicle, the axle load and temperature on rut of road surface were analyzed. The influence of the damage of over-loaded vehicle to the road surface of Shenshan expressway was summarized by the results of the analysis. Some countermeasures to prevent the various damages of Shenshan expressway, based on the analysis of the damage of the asphalt pavement according to the actual situation.
