In recent years, with the rapid development of the national economy, the increasing domestic cars and the heavy traffic has led to great difficulties to Ministry of Communications. Meanwhile, as the highway network is extending, the highway and urban traffic system has already united. Because the national traffic network has nearly formed, the network becomes more complex. To some extent, the problem that it has no road to choose has been replaced by the problem that is which road is my choice. Therefore many cities are planning to establish their own platform of Intelligent Traffic System, while some big cities have begun the system. Vehicle positioning and map-matching technique which belong to the ITS has provided important technical support to supervising traffic. In the paper, some researches on simulating for the probability and statistics map-matching algorithm have been done based on establishing vehicle terminal hardware system. First of all, establish the hardware circuit system based on the CPU S3C2410A processor which is produced by Samsung, extending the GPS GR-87, GPRS-M23 module and other related peripherals electronic component. Then, the receiving and processing GPS data is achieved by using u-boot to debug the system and the two-way data transfer between the mobile vehicle and the monitoring center is realized by using the GPRS, so the tracking and remote monitoring of vehicle is accomplished. Subsequently, on the basis of receiving GPS data use the map-matching algorithm of Probability and Statistics to correct the position of the vehicle which is displayed in the electrical map. In the algorithm, the traditional elliptical error area is replaced by the rectangular error area to reduce complex operation. When the vehicle goes through the intersection of road, two consecutive roads is stored to solve the short road and to increase the reliability of the matched result. Finally, in the VC where the MAPX is inserted, the algorithm is simulated to verify the validity of the algorithm.
