| Yangzhuang Leisure Agro-park, 500 meters north to Royal Prime Minister's Palace, a 4A scenic spot in Beiliu, Yangcheng, Shanxi Province, is the extension and complement of the Palace. It is a park characterized by the enjoyment of agricultural leisure. The design aims to build an integrated leisure-oriented agro-park in which agricultural chain is extended to fields as leisure and culture and the core content of which is farming experiencing combined with the culture of Royal Prime Minister's Palace as well as other regional culture. The park, designed mainly to meet modern people's need of relaxation, consists of two functions: firstly, it enables tourists to experience the agricultural leisure, that is, the park serves as the paradise of health preserving where tourists can enjoy the pleasure of farming and rural life; secondly, the park, combined with the Royal Prime Minister's Palace, plays the role of extending and enriching tourists'travelling. These two elements work together to make the park an integrated cultural tourists'attraction composed of food, shelter, transportation, travelling, entertainment and shopping. The park, with the culture of the Royal Prime Minister's Palace and the unique landform as its core resources, is designed under a couple of principles as making full use of the sites, experiencing agricultural leisure, extending the existing cultural resources, integrating all the elements available, highlighting environment protection, and having full consideration of tourists'interests. It will be established as a scenic system consisting of"one line, five zones and six controlling points"by using line-of-sight composition and mass-point layout in Chinese classical parks. One line refers to the control line and the sequence line of sightseeing, which is composed of scenic nodes such as the starting-point square, cherry-covered valley, butterfly-shaped ecological dinning hall, zhonggeting square, the moon gate, sightseeing greenhouse, cave-house hotel and so on.The five zones refer to the five characteristic functional areas in terms of the landform and functions. They are the health preserving forest zone with the cherry-lined ditch as its major part, the leisure zone for vegetables growing above the first platform, the agricultural sightseeing zone north to the tunnel mainly for flower planting and agricultural sci-tech displays, the farming experiencing zone in the northeast of the highest platform mainly for land renting and the conservation zone for vegetation protection and economic forest growing. The six controlling points refer to six line-of-sight controlling points covering the five commanding points and the gate way. Each of the six points has an attic, and they are named as Wenzhen, Jiujiu, Zhenyi, Banxian, zhuyu and Ruhua respectively. The six points can mutually exchange vision. The line-of-sight composition and mass-point layout in Chinese classical parks are used to control all points and strengthen the integrity of the whole park. Moreover, the six points also face the Royal Prime Minister's Palace, hence the communication between the two scenic spots. The design has explored a series of questions concerning how to build a park with farming experiencing as its major content, how to form the unique style on the basis of the core resources, how to rationally use the special landform to create characteristic space and how to build a scenic spot at low cost and the solution of these questions contains some innovation. |
