This paper starts with the environmental problems that has been created by the industrial revolution combining with the evolution of city water environment design. It analyses the problems in our city water landscape design, then puts forward taking the systematic and integral idea as the ideological basis of water environment design and regarding the intergrowth of people and water as the developmental thought. It draws nourishment from the Chinese landscape paintings to make the city water environment develops harmoniously with the urban economy, culture and art for all aspects.The first chapter focuses primarily on the origins of this thesis research, research methods and the main content. Since industrial revolution so far, the humanity has created each kind of problem regarding the water environment transformation which our city faces, these problem increasingly affected survival and development of city residents. This article will through literature research and case research, focus on lookup magazine and books at home and in the world about system science, aesthetics, landscape ecology, botany and the water project, and then ,analyze, compare, investigate, collate and analyze the book on the establishment of sustainable water system's theory, practice, review, for Chinese water environment of status, proposed optimal design of urban landscape. At the end of this chapter, the concept of urban water environment related to the interpretation, and the sequence of development of urban water environment has been grooming.Chapterâ…¡is to explain why the content of city water environment with the conception of the system as a whole as the ideological basis. Design of water environment analysis of vision not simply confined to the landscape of unilateral. But from an overall planning, landscape architecture, environmental science, biology, hydraulics, multidisciplinary cross-analysis. Overall looking at issues from a more macro perspective, from a more fundamental, more rational angle to think about the problem, from a more scientific way of thinking to find ways to solve the problem, the perceptual and the rational, run-in with repeated impact of science and technology in the best way to find a solution, systems thinking has provided us a way of thinking.The third chapter is about the design of urban water environment for ecological concerns, this concern is simply the concept of sustainable development reflected in the design. Water ecosystem affect all aspects of the city, it provides for our city water, city water security provided for the foundation, the diversity of aquatic species for urban development provides a wealth of resources, beautiful natural environment for the urban water residents of the rest of the place, in order to maintain the water environment and good relations between cities, urban water ecosystem will have a practical significance. Optimization design of urban water environment is the precondition and foundation of scientifically disposing the city resources, promoting the city function and its competition capability, improving the habitat environment and theinvestment climate, and achieving the sustainable development for a city. Healthy and vigorous water environment of city is the emphases for assuring the coordinating development of"Human, Water, City and Nature"and the necessary condition for achieving urban sound development. The subject of this paper is the plan and design of water environment for the cities, with the relation between city and people as the core. The paper is aimed at the research for achieving a harmonious relation between city and water by making use of plan and design, with water as source and human as base.
