Environmental protection and energy demand accelerate the development of wind power industry, the installation number of the MW-level wind generator at domestic and overseas reach up to 20,000 every year. According to the principle of fan, the higher the blade , the easier it can obtain larger wind speed , so as to ensure the efficiency of power generation. So the tower height of large capacity wind generator often achieves 80 meters or more. It brings enormous difficulties to the staffs who often climb the towers. Climb assistor, as the wind power equipment, can help staffs to climb, improve efficiency, shorten climb time and increase the safety, has become an indispensable auxiliary equipment of tower work.This paper first determines the motor and gearbox's design require- ments according to work staffs'climb habit. Then compile motor's Matlab electromagnetism design program on the basis of the design requirements, such as the standard, modular and universal. And obtain the motor's electromagnetic design parameters by utilizing the optimized mathematics model which set motor cost as target, set motor performance as bound,set major datas as alternating quantity. Then use the Ansoft software to analysis and testing. After all of these, make a model machine combining with installation and use requirement, and have a test. At the last, design the protection and control system of the climb assistor according to the service conditions and the work characteristics.This paper research has certain theoretical and practical significance. It can help to better meet the requirements of staffs, through optimizing the structure and function of the climb assistor. Also it can improve the work safety performance, and further motivate the development of the manufacturing technology of the climb assistor motor.
