Solar energy as the most important renewable and clean energy is attracting worldwide attention. With the rapid development of photovoltaic industry, Development of high-precision,low-cost,low-power and portable solar cell test system not only has some academic value, but also great commercial value. Therefore, the main purpose of this study is to develop a test system of solar cells based on ARM.Problems in solar cell tester was analyzed firstly, Second, selecting a suitable design compared by several testing methods based on the discussion of the basic working principle and test theory of solar cells. The design used capacitive charge to replace the resistance changes of electronic load, used ARM to control the test system, transplant embedded Linux system on the ARM, used touch screen as the man-machine interface, the test system worked in the non-standard test conditions, It has many advantages such as portable, low cost, low power consumption, simple operation and easy. In the next, the design details about hardware and drivers of the tester were given. The principles and schematic design of four kinds of sampling circuits, conditioning and interface circuits and ARM system circuits were introduced in the hardware section, design and hardware were simulated by Proteus; The characteristics of device drivers, Linux system and the Linux driver development and the design process were analyzed in the drivers section, drivers of solar cell tester were designed, and details design of each driver with hardware-related were given, drivers were debugged preliminary, The simulation and debugging results shows that the system hardware and device drivers work properly.
