Polyhedral oligomeric silsesquioxane(POSS) is an excellent polymer doped modifying agent in recent years. It can improve mechanical, thermal and toughness performance of the composite materials. This article use POSS modificate CE resin to manufacture CE composite material.And that can to provide theoretical basis and technical support for the composite materials application in aerospace.Manufactured POSS-TiO2 organic-inorganic hybrid through sol-gel process. Through the modern testing method of FTIR analysis,we can find POSS and TiO2 joined by chemical bond instead of mechanical and physical blending. From UV testing we can find the POSS-TiO2 hybrid system has obvious absorption below 400nm in the ultraviolet area. And through XRD testing we can see the POSS-TiO2 hybrid as the amorphous phase scattered. And through the SEM,we can find the POSS-TiO2 hybrid is as the microns scale scattered particle system.Reused grafted - polycondensation method to join the POSS-TiO2 hybrid to the epoxy resin(EP), through open loop reaction of the epoxy group prepared a new hybrid of POSS-TiO2-EP. Joining the POSS-TiO2-EP hybrid to CE resin can be used as modifying agent to reinforce and toughen the resin. And through the SEM,we can find the POSS-TiO2-EP hybrid is as the microns scale scattered particle system.Through SEM testing,we can see the POSS-TiO2 and POSS-TiO2-EP scattered evenly in the resin and there is no phase separate out appearance when the POSS-TiO2 and POSS-TiO2-EP are 2% mass in CE resin.At the same time there are many toughening nest, silver lines and white stress area in the resin casting fracture surface, showed ductile fracture characteristics and observably increased CE resin toughness. And Through TG,DSC testing,we can see the thermal stability of the resin system also has a certain degree of improvement. Through tensile,bending and compression strength testing,we can find the CE resin casting's tensile,bending and compression strength have been greatly improved than before modification.
