People have already come to consensus that we should attempt to accelerate thedevelopment and utilization of renewable energy sources such as solar. Among the sources, thePhotovoltaic(PV) technology which is based on the PV effect has very broad prospect to beapplied. At present, however, the PV conversion efficiency is not high, and has become thebottleneck of development. Improve PV power efficiency and application technology level arethe important research fields of PV technology.This paper studies the sun angle tracking theory and the control method. It ensures thesolar panels and the sun ray always keep vertical state. Thus it increases panels generationpower, and reduces the cost of PV systems indirectly; At the same time, energy storage alsotakes an important part in the PV system. And the battery is the main energy-storage device.The charging ways have a great effect on the battery using life, so the paper has a deeplyanalysis about principle and properties of the battery charging and discharging. Finally putforward a design scheme of the off-grid PV controller, which is based on the ARM processor.The specific design is double axes tracking control system based on the sun position algorithm,it uses the feedback of the light and angle sensor to realize closed-loop control. It improves theaccuracy and reliablility of tracking control. Application intelligent charging chip, and thecharging and discharging parameters of the lead-acid battery,the subject completes the storagebattery charging circuit design.The controller designed in the subject is used in small off-grid PV system, it realizes thetarget of sun angle tracking with all weather, and make solar panels have the maximum solarenergy to absorb; and also realize the best charging way of lead acid battery, and prolong theusing life of the battery. The subject has higher theoretical significance and application valueto the effective use of solar energy.
