| Globalization has become the inevitable direction of development in the world. Driven by globalization, economy, culture and society in China change significantly, as well as architecture. On the one hand, the using of new construction techniques and materials has changed the way of the construction. On the other hand, the introduction of Western architectural concept and exchange between different architectural culture expand the vision of the architects in China. This promoted the development of architecture greatly and changed the features of the buildings dramatically. However, globalization brings Chinese architecture opportunities, as well as cultural crisis. As the standardization of modern architecture Ignored diversity of different region and specificity of various regional culture, our cities become stereotyped and region characteristic die away. So, how to protect and develop region culture becomes an important issue of Chinese architects in the situation of cultural converging brought by the globalization.Since the new century, owing to the rapid growth of Chinese economy, architecture , including region architecture, made great achievements. Based on architectural design environment which was formed by globalization and organizing of architectural practices which have tendency toward regionalism in China since 2000, this article summed up development features and tendencies of Regional architecture in new century, with typical architectural works as example, discussed from the perspectives of the environment, architectural technology, regional culture, sustainable development and life. Then, the article pointed out the imbalance at the creation of regional architecture from the aspect of creation thought, architectural technology and the role of architect. At the end of the article, through comparing with the development over the past two decades , the writer indicated the basic point of regional architectural creation of China in the contemporary environment. |
