Concrete faced rock-fill dam, as one of the main dam of Earth-rock dams and hydraulic structures, have achieved rapid development in the last forty years. It has become one of the most competitive and promising dam type concerned at home and abroad because of its safety, small volume, fast construction, low price. The design experience of this kind of dam accumulated more, however, from the overall opinion, theoretical research and numerical calculation method is still in immature, imperfect stage. The traditional design method can not adapt to the requirements of thedeā€”velopment of modern faced rockfill dam for lack of safety and economy concern, but optimization design method could archive automation and improve the efficiency design and the quality in pursuit of economic and security.In recent years, the main features and problems of CFRD in our country show: first of all, height of dam gradually increases, and the requirement of dam filling material rises accordingly, material demand and investment cost will substantially increase; besides, compared with low dam, it is very different in slope stability, safety and deformation problems with increasingly complex geological and topographical conditions. So, the high dam deformation and stress of the nonlinear analysis needs to be re-examined. For these problems, this paper's mainly research works are as follows:(1)Based on optimization design theory of engineering structure, interval optimization method and nonlinear finite element analysis method are applied, considering the nonlinear characteristics of rockfill, Duncan zhang E - B nonlinear model has been used to fully simulate the RCC dam classification, the construction process and storage process. Take a high CFRD for an example for optimization calculation, better optimization effect in shape size; materials, dam deformation and stress have been achieved.(2)According to common constitutive model and stress-strain analysis theory of concrete faced rockfill dam, the three dimensional nonlinear numerical analysis of Zhamao reservoir CFRD has been worked out. The key point lies in the process of the three dimensions nonlinear finite element model and analysis, perfected the plane analysis that can't reflected the dam stress deformation characteristics very well. Calculation results of the static on the dam structure have been meticulously compared and analyzed, relevant evaluation of design scheme and rationality of zoning on dam stress-strain has been reached.(3)Through the pseudo-static method, the 3D non-linear dynamic analysis, dynamic effect of the dam body and panels etc structural have been obtained, the dam panel and dynamic deflection, dynamic stress situation have been analyzed and summarized, some construction suggestions have also been put forward as well.
