Research Design And Development On Personality Scale Of China Civil Aviation Initial Pilots

Nowday, people have reached a consensus that effective pilot selection can avoid the waste of resources and save the cost of training. Besides, a suitable personel for the job will own more excellent performance and better career prospects in the future. From the view of human factors, these pilots who had passed the strict screening will conduct better flight quality and ensure flight safety. Therefore, the international civil aviation organization has confirmed that the pilot's psychological selection is an important content of CRM.This subject originates from the subject of research on computerized commercial airline pilot psychological selection system, which is sponsored by CAFUC and European pilot selection and training college.Based on the reasonable rusults of the present researches, this paper applied Delphi method to determine the personality characteristic test scale's dmensions, which conform to the actual conditions of the pilots in China's civil aviation. The pilot personality characteristic test scale includes 13 dimensions: achievement motivation, conscientiousness/ rigor, decisiveness/adventure, convertibility, vitality, gregariousness, openness, domination &obedience/Coordination, emotional un-stability, self-confidence/anti-setback, cooperation, anti-authority, honesty. The paper has completed the design and composition of the pilot personality characteristic test scale and analyzed the reliability and structural validity. The reliability of this scale is 0.915, each dimension of split-half reliability are higher than the 0.65. Factor analysis method was applied in the structural validity inspection to extract the commonfactor of structural validity: 0.48, and two commonfactor of structural validity: 0.58, all of which are beyond 0.4. The load rate of each dimension exceeded 0.51. This subject had also constructed the pilot personality characteristic test scale's"selection - eliminated" model, completed the the preliminary construction of the scale's norm and 925 samples collecting and established the standards percentile rank norm and the nine points norms.
