The traffic capacity is one of most important indexes roads, traffic planing, the desinging & improvement of traffic facilities and other factors interrelated referingroad traffic engineering.The traffic capacity of the planar intersections directly affect their service level and even operation efficiency of the entire sections. Due to the restrictions of terrain, there are a lot of abnormal intersections in mountainous city road network, a series traffic problems are brought by the shortage of their traffic capacity. It is strong theoretical significance and practical application value to conduct the research on traffic capacity and reconstruction technique of deformity intersection.This paper depended on the science and technology project of Chongqing–"Research on traffic capacity and extension technology of abnormal intersection in mountain city road",taking typical deformity intersection in Chongqing as the research object. First based on practical survey of several typical deformity mou-ntainous city intersection and the analysis of statistical data, this paper analysis geometry and traffic characteristics of planar deformity intersection;Using the evaluation method of principal component analysis to determine the main factors oftheir traffic capacity, it makes calculation method of equivalent capacity appropri-ate to mountainous city deformity intersection, and gives the method of determin-ing interrelated parameter; Finally through analizing the problems of the mounta-inous city deformity intersection during their operation and use, gives improvem-ents inorder to increase the traffic capacity of mountain city abnormal intersectio-ns from different angles, which applied in the actual cases and takes simulation experiment and evaluation for the improve results using VISSIM software.
