China is a big-mining country with huge cumulation and emissions of mining waste. By 2007, the cumulation amounts to 8.046 billion tons, nearly one billion tons were discharged in 2007, their direct disposal has led to a series of social problems such as resourses, environment, land, security etc. The comprehensive utilization can not only improve the efficiency of resourses, reduce the occupation of land and protect enviroment, but also get rid of security risk fundamentally.This paper studies on making fired bricks by press-forming with Yinan gold ore tailings, which mainly discuss three different systems: fine tailings-clay; fine tailings; fine-medium tailings. Its principal contents are:①Basic properties of raw materials: Chemical composition; Mineral composition; Partical size.②Exploration of forming conditions: Plasticity of different tailings content; Forming pressure; Forming water.③Exploration of drying system: Relationship between water content and natural drying, artificial drying; Relationship between water content and different drying temperature of artificial drying.④E xploration of sintering system: Sintering speed;Sintering tempertature;Sintering range;Holding time; X-ray analysis of products at different sintering temperature.⑤Study on different mixture proportion with fine tailings and clay;study on making fired bricks with fine tailings;study on different mixture proportion with fine and medium tailings.⑥Preliminary assume and economic analysis about application of the project,analyze economical index such as cost, profit etc.The results reveal that:①The optimum technology system: Forming pressure 15MPa,Forming water 9%,Water content after drying 1%,Sintering temperature 1050℃,Holding time: 60min,Sintering range:1020 ~1080℃.②The study on different mixture proportion with fine tailings and clay under the optimum technology system indicates: MU10 brick products can be made of fine tailings with 100%, which have no lime blowing and efflorescence. Freeze-thaw experiment results: the loss ratio of strength: 3.8%, the loss ratio of mass: 0.9%.The color of bricks: light yellow; The study on different mixture proportion with fine tailings and medium tailings under the optimum technology system indicates: the replacement of medium tailings can reach 25%, its products have no lime blowing and efflorescence. Freeze-thaw experiment results: the loss ratio of strength: 3.2%, the loss ratio of mass: 0.5%.The color of bricks: light yellow.③Preliminary assume and economic analysis about application of the project indicates: the total investment of building a fired brick plant that yields 60 million bricks annually is 7 million, every single brick cost 0.113 yuan, annual profit amounts to 8.22 million, so the brick plant can recover all the investment within one year.This new type fired bricks can not only save natural resources, but also consume lots of tailings, which are consistent with national strategic requirements of environmental protection and sustainable development, and have notable economical and social benefits.
