With the post-industrial era, information technology, globalization as the dominant urban functions, people's lifestyle and a dramatic change in consumer attitudes, etc., the old model can not meet the functional area of modern urban development. With the "mixed development" theory proposed that a new urban form appeared, the concept of urban complex was formally proposed. Practice shows that the urban complex as an organic combination of urban functions, conducive to resolving the tensions of urban land resources, traffic congestion, environmental degradation, urban expansion and other issues also have some role in the relaxation of the urban complex as a sustainable healthier growth pattern, being more and more attention.Based on the existing research on the urban complex, based on the concept of the urban complex to parse, in many ways summed up the emerging urban complex causes, Recalling its development process, and then analyzes the types and characteristics of existing summary of the theory of systems; article also features on the urban complex composition, traffic organization, public space, landscape, architectural space to analyze the form factor, and the proposed design method; subsequent instances of deep analysis, by induction, contrast, etc. summarizes the characteristics of each instance to explore the similarities and differences between study design methods; In this final, looked to the future development of urban complex prospects. This article is divided into four parts:The first part describes the background and research purposes, for the main research ideas and research framework; The second part provides the theoretical basis of the concept of urban complex, summarizes emerging urban complex motives and development process, analyze the types and characteristics;Third part of the urban complex of the various constituent elements, and then presented through detailed design analysis and case studies, through analysis, comparison and so on, to sum up their design features;Part IV concludes the paper, and future prospects.
