Study On Underground Earthen Heritage Site Museum

Earthen heritage is widely distributed in China. It is currently in different status and the preservation environment has very different requirements. Earthen heritage has a great historical and cultural value in human history studies, and earthen heritage display promotes public understanding and appreciation, foster public participation on conservation. How to display earthen heritage safely is the aim of museum design.During last decades, a great number of underground earthen heritage site museums were built in china, where earthen heritage was discovered. Underground or semi-underground museums are often related to the immobility of earthen heritage sites. Not only can underground earthen heritage site museum provide a more stable thermal and humidity environment, the museum itself is more energy efficient with ecological significance.It even has great advantages in showing the site context.However, earthen heritage site museum study, as a interdisciplinary study of museology and Archeology, has just started, the design of underground earthen heritage site museum is still in the early exploration. It is in this context, the authors start research the use of underground space for earthen heritage site museum by study the case of Shaanxi Yang Mausoleum Museum.This essay assessed the internal and external factors affecting earthen heritage site museum, and pointed out that thermal and humidity environment, ventilation and lighting need to be improved in underground earthen heritage site museum. In this essay, underground earthen heritage site museum design is discussed in several aspects:site selection, functions, internal and external space and targeted conclusions are proposed. Also stratages concerning the use of buffer space, day-lighting and natural ventilation are discussed.At last, the essay takes the first underground earthen heritage site museum in China, Shaanxi Yang Mausoleum Museum for an example, so that the readers could see how underground earthen heritage site museum actually performs and what factors should be considered during the designing process.
