The traditional design of pump is based on experience, it usually needs to go through the process of model tests and design modification, and the final design scheme is determined according to experience. The whole process is for longer period, more expensive, and stronger experience-dependent. With the rapid development of computer technology and CFD technology, flow numerical simulation become possible and is widely used in fluid machinery design and its analysis. In order to reduce the number of model tests, reduce design cost and shorten the design cycle, in this paper, CFD has been applied to the design process of submersible sewage pump and its flow analysis.In this paper, based on the velocity coefficient method, combining with increased flow rate design method and relevant empirical methods, two kinds of submersible sewage pump which have different blade molded lines have been designed. SolidWorks is used to model the two impellers. Meanwhile, the models of volute flow channel, rotating region, the entrance flow channel have been built and assembled. Using the two assembled models for the research,8 operating conditions are simulated separately by CFdesign software. According to simulation results, characteristics of velocity, pressure, the relative velocity of flow in impeller, blade pressure are analyzed, the Flow rate-Head curves and Flow rate-Hydraulic efficiency curves are predicted and the flow range with good operating performance are obtained.Through numerical simulation, internal flow situations of the submersible sewage pump can be got and hydraulic performance can be predicted. The results of numerical simulation can be applied to the design improvement. Through the design-simulation-design process, the performance of pump designed can be improved. Blade molded line has a significant impact on the pump, so several lines can be chosen when designing impeller blade. Moreover, select the most suitable line based on the actual operating condition, through numerical simulation, comparison of its internal flow situation and the performance-curve predicted.
