In space environment exploration,spacecraft-borne sensor data output is needed to be efficiently acquired, stored and then to be studied. COTS are short for Commercial Off-The-Shelf. COTS parts can meet the performance requirements of space exploration equipment and is easily to be obtained compared to aerospace and military grade components. The COTS parts used for space environment detection instruments can greatly reduce their development costs and shorten the development duration, while good detection performance can be obtained.The main content of this paper is the design of space environment measurement data acquisition system based on USB interface and FPGA for the demand of rapid response spacecraft technology development. With consideration of the great application potential of USB bus as a spacecraft system bus, methods and techniques on data acquisition system design using Actel Fusion Mixed-Signal FPGA and Cypress EZ-USB FX2 are discussed.This paper is divided into four chapters. They are successively the introduction, USB bus and FPGA technique, design on data acquisition system, summary and prospects.Chapter one introduces space environment, measurement technology and development status of data acquisition techniques. Particle radiation effects on space exploration instruments are discussed. In addition, instruments and components reliability in space are concerned.Chapter two is about USB bus and FPGA techniques according to the demand for rapid response spacecraft technology, FPGA chip and USB interface chip are chosen and tested.Chapter three discusses the design of data acquisition system based on USB 2.0 interface and FPGA. This chapter includes system requirement analysis, system design, hardware design and software design. The section of hardware design is mainly about design of USB interface module and FPGA module. The communication between FPGA and USB, driver and firmware of USB interface is achieved in the software design.At the end of the thesis, the work of this paper is summarized and the next step work is proposed.
