EHV and UHV electrical power transmission prevails well in China. People concern the electromagnetic enviromental problems. And audible noise, radio interfereence, corona loss are the major elements in the electromagnetic enviromental problems. The paper focuses on the calculaation of corona losses of high-voltage transmission lines.Data of corona loss of the HV transmission lines at home and abroad are got by measurement, empirical formula and the numerical method of FEM(Finite element method). The purpose of this paper is to try to come up a method based on CSM(charge simulation method) to analyze the corona loss of the HV transmission lines. Compared with the FEM, CSM has many advatages. Fistly, it run qucikly and can save a lot of operation time. Secondly, it do not need solve the boundary value problems. Thirdly, it can degrade the two-dimensional problem to the one-dimensional problem. At last, the accuracy can meet the requirements of engineering. In the 1990s, Abdel-salam and other foreign scholars came up a way to solve the calculation of corona loss of multi-phase single wires, but this method can not calculate the corona loss of practical transmission lines, and the operation need a lot of time. In this paper, an improved method based on the Abdel-salam's approach is brought up which can analyze the three-phase AC transmission lines comprised of subconductors and can save a lot of operation time.Relative to the HVAC transmission lines, many scholars at home and abroad have made lots of researches on HVDC transmission lines with FEM. This paper introduce the CSM combining the Deutsch assumption to calculate the corona loss of HVDC transmission lines.
