Supported by National Natural Science Foundation of China under grant NO.50777017, This paper mainly research on the electromagnetic radiation of the HVDC converter station valve tower by modeling and calculation, firstly, The generation mechanism of transient electromagnetic waves and its calculation methods are analyzed, by analyzing, direct frequency domain calculation method and impedance transformation method are proposed, then the electromagnetic radiation in±500kVconverter station and±800kV converter station valve hall are calculated using the direct frequency domain method with simulation software FEKO, the electromagnetic field strength from 10kHz to 1MHz in gallery of the valve hall are obtained and compared with the measured value. This paper analyze the valve tower radiation structure transformation in one power frequency cycle, and calculate the electric field strength at the gallery in±500kV valve hall along with time. Finally, a three-phase valve tower scaled model experiment are carried out, the experiment verify the correctness of the simulation.
