The special traffic road of Jinping is in the northwest of Xichang, it connects Jinping I Hydropower Station and II. The road goes from Anning Bridge of Manshuiwan on the east, through Yak Hill, to mill ditch on the west. It is 57.15 km long. The west part of the road in Yak Hill has the length of 24.15km, where it has the most tunnels, up to 8, and the ratio of tunnel to line is as much as 0.418. It has undulate terrain, deep valleys, steep valley slope in this part and the geology goes across multiple stratigraphic unit, the natural conditions is complicated and typical. When the project started in the first half of 2005, impacted by the project, such as the collapse had occurred in the western part of the landslide and a series of serious geological disasters happened. The road began operation on June 10, 2007, followed by the emergence of mountain deformation, slumping, landslides and other disasters residue field instability has seriously affected the normal use of private roads. Therefore, the study of stability to the west section of Yak Hill of the foreign private road has important practical significance for disaster prevention. At the same time, we know more about the mountain slope failure system through our study.This article follows the "mechanism of geological processes" and "quantitative evaluation", We studied the slope stability model of the roads on the west section of Yak Hill, we also analysed the deformation mechanism and stability evaluation systematic analysis. The main results are as follows:(1) Collecting the gradient along the slope, based on the slope gradient, the parts of the west section in Yak Hill are divided into less than 20°, 20 ~ 30°slope and greater than 30°slope of three categories, the overall are 5 segments. According to rock level, the combination of occurrence and the relationship between the slope, in turn it is divided into forward slope, slope and oblique reverse slope, 4 categories. Geological structure is divided into 15 small areas. And we took evaluations to each district.(2)Based on analyzing the geological disasters along the road, the slope instability mode in the west part of Yak Hill of the road is summarized as four types: residual plot of slope sliding, the resurrection of ancient landslides, artificial slag heap slope collapse and strong weathering Sliding and bedrock slope.(3) Based on the geological prototype, using an analysis of geological processes, mechanisms and finite element method of combining numerical simulation to study typical operating point of deformation, deformation and failure mechanisms under the various types of failure modes.(4)Based on the evaluation on the typical operating point of deformation mechanism and stability under each type of failure modes, we commented the stability in each part of the road in west section of the part in Yak Hill.
