The thesis researches the Yangtze River side slope retaining design and construction systematically based on 5th pier of Erqi Yangtze River Bridge at Wuhan. Erqi Yangtze River Bridge at Wuhan is 7th bridge across the Yangtze River. It is 3.2km from 2th Yangtze River Bridge at wuhan in upstream,and 6.8km from Tianxingzhou Yangtze River Bridge in downstream. The bridge walks along the dawn track of Jingguang Railway, through the liberation boulevard at hankou and Jiangan bay railway organization, and cross Yangtze River over pumping house Luojia port at Wuchang, along Luojia port drainage channel to the Peace avenue. The main structure is composite beam cable-stayed bridge with three towers, and it's 1732m (90+160+616+616+160+90) long.Harf of the foundation of the 5th pier is situated at the side slope. So it's significant to protect the slope before foundation construction. The protective measures of the project is combined on Retaining piles and anchor age piles. The Protection system is designed to a very strong rigidity through prestressing force between two rows of bored pile. At present, the foundation construction has been completed, and the construction of the pylon is on going. The safety problems such as collapse and cracking didn't happen ever. The fact proves that the design is feasible.
