China is one of the countries that suffered the most serious earthquake disaster in the world. In recent years, earthquakes occurred in the house building caused varying degrees of damage, especially the masonry structure buildings which relatively weak in seismic capacity. The serious damage of masonry structure buildings in Wenchuan Earthquake even arouse attention to scholars both at home and abroad. For the seismic assessment of masonry structure building of our country, the article involves the followings:First, in the paper, taking earthquake damage to masonry structures as the background, introduce the destruction of teaching building,residential building and dormitory of masonry structure, and analyses the reason of the damage. Secondly, the paper sums up the calculation model proposed by scholars at home and abroad, discuss the characteristics of each model, thinks that the equivalent framework model can applied to the static non-linear analysis of masonry structures. Taking into account the different characteristics of horizontal and vertical walls, different models were used to simulate the two kinds of walls.Under domestic and international level on the seismic performance of the division of research data, obtained the level of seismic performance of masonry structure classification methods. According to the experimental data masonry walls of statistics and its characteristics in different stages of work, proposed to inter-story drift ratio as the seismic performance evaluation index. The paper analyzes the different layers across the five numbers and the structure of the push-over curve analysis across several layers of structure and seismic properties. Then for three five-span structure to drift ratio for the seismic performance indicators were assessed. Finally, for the same number across different layers of the two structures, by analyzing the structure of 7 degrees and 8 degrees in under earthquake and more rare earthquake event and when the thickness of the wall under the action of 240mm and 370mm for the story drift when the comparison drawn structural performance levels, and further to the recommendations of structure height.
