Over the last decade, the early construction of the reinforced concrete arch bridge appeared a variety of diseases. Due to increasing traffic, the growing number of heavy vehicles, along with the aging the bridge during operation, and the role of environmental factors, made these bridges difficult to adapt to the development of road transportation. Therefore, in order to take reasonable maintenance and strengthening of economic measures, it's necessary to detect of the existing reinforced concrete arch bridge. For this situation, take Minjiang Bridge as an example, from the detection, assessment to reinforcement this thesis has made some primary work as follows:(1) This thesis summarizes the detection and evaluation of existing bridges and reinforcement of the research status at home and abroad, and the subsequent detection of the same type of bridge assessment and strengthening technology is present.(2) Detailed analysis of the existing reinforced concrete arch bridge and the mechanism of common diseases, and the basic theories of load tests and their practical applications were discussed. The relevant principles of bridge load testing with a brief description.(3) Elaborated the regular methods and their applications in bridge assessment. The load-carrying capacity and service condition of existing bridges are evaluated to provide reliable suggestions for bridge maintain and strengthening.(4) Summary of common maintenance and reinforcement in the bridge based on the method, by taking MinJiang Bridge as an example, after load testing, according to on-site inspection and load test results of its technical assessment, and disease mechanism of the bridge, a comprehensive inspection and damage analysis are conducted. Then the strategies of maintenance and strengthening are proposed for this bridge, which can be taken as valuable suggestions for similar types of bridge.
