With the progress of science and technology, many modern enterprises gradually present globalized, collectivized and diversified development trend. The equipment of enterprise is also increasingly modern, high-speed and complex. These devices are distributed in different geographical and large amounts of information generated in the process of running. It brings a challenge to the work of device management in enterprise. Realized the unified management of equipment, the collaborative work between the management departments and the sharing of equipment information resources becomes more difficult. Therefore, to meet the needs of equipment management in modern enterprise, Development of an equipment management system which combined the new technology is necessary. The system should have a high degree of resource sharing and extensive collaborative work.Following with the Internet, the grid technology as a major scientific and technological progress has become an increasing concern in society. It provides a new way for promote resource sharing and collaborative work. Its goal is to realize the across-the-board connection of all resources in Internet. It has outstanding advantages in dealing with distributed, heterogeneous, dynamic, and diverse information resources. Therefore, aiming at the difficulties of the equipment management in modern enterprise, developing a grid-based equipment management system that using the advantage of grid technology will improve the equipment management level of enterprise.The basic theory of grid technology is systematic introduced in this paper. The Open Grid Services Architecture (OGSA) and the WS-Resource Framework (WSRF) are also described in detail. The Globus Toolkit4 which achieved the WSRF and WSN standards is researched prominently; its new features are summarized, and Using an example to introduce how to developed application based on it.The requirement of the equipment management system is analyzed and the system architecture that base on OGSA is proposed in this paper. Function modules of the system are divided and their functions and business processes are designed in details. The system database tables are also designed. The method of database access is studied, which used the database access middleware OGSA-DAI. Under the grid environment that built by GT4, a simple equipment management system is developed by the core services of toolkits and the java Programming.Grid-based equipment management system provides a new idea for the development of the equipment management system, and provides a reference for the continuous development of grid-based business application.
