Modern university students have various outside activities, which acquire more flexible, casual and creative outside space. However, the common situation is that the campus hardly provides them an ideal outside environment. A large number of methods and experiences proved that outdoor interaction space where needs to be carefully handed is a necessary means for emotional communication, which is a principle involving space, behavior and psychology. Although landscape designers emphasize the significance of outdoor interaction space over and over again and artificially use the methods of handing space to design it, lack of academic theory support they further design.In this paper, it thinks that the creation of landscape design do not narrowly performs in the variety of trees, beautiful colors and the complex of visual effect. The concept of interaction space can not be restricted in putting two tables and chairs or planting a ground of glass. In order to promoting more communication opportunities, the landscape gray space expanding from the construction gray space is a semi-private, semi-opened space, which use some methods to create like building, plants, slopes etc. It has uncertainty, flexibility and ambiguity. These characters are similar with requirements of students' outdoor activities which are variability, flexibility and interactivity. According to both of similarity, analyzed and summarized common methods, these are used to analyzed common problems in present university landscape gray space and communication space, for example, nowadays campus environment is mainly focus on visual effects, and ignore space expression on students communication activities; outdoor activity space is monotonous; space hardly meet the demand of users, rarely take cloudy and rainy day into account, don't create a ideally outdoor studying space and so on. So taking Hunan Agriculture University as an example analyzes these problems. In the last chapter bases on the gray space characters, including the integration of transparent and privacy, being widely inclusive activity, promoting deepen contacts in order to solve the current problems. It proposes that pray space communication activity has interactivity, diversity, and interactivity, that the space should meet users'demand, that gray space should satisfy the principles of see and be seen, and that the gray space texture is human. It describes that the campus landscape space design in the promotion of exchanges with people creates a positive meaning.
