Recently, green building is becoming popular, eco-village of traditional houses in China attracts industry's more attention. Energy efficiency of roofs, walls, doors and windows play a basic and important role in the energy efficiency of building. For energy efficiency of building, it plays a key role in using energy effectively in the whole building system. Improving the structure of the envelope construction, increasing the thermal performance of walls ,doors, and windows, combining some modern materials and technology with traditional practices, enhancing indoor space quality in China western rural region, have a sustainable ecological significance, but also are good to the healthy development of our national economy. But they are subject to various factors, such as local culture, customs and habits; economic affordability; construction technology. Therefore, to explore new possibilities for envelope structure in traditional village houses shall deserve vital importance. Yet, how to modify the factors limiting residential forms so that they can also be updated from theoretical research into practical applications is a key issue.By field research, the thesis analyzes data from sites, from the perspective of architects, combines the construction practice with local conditions, search for the shortcomings in envelope system in traditional houses, and explore the parts that can be inherited and developed.By developing modern materials technology, improving and updating the structural performance in traditional building, it discusses and presents the adaptability of these measures. Such as adding the insulation materials to the roof insulation structure of the traditional practices mixing the straw and clay,adding the polystyrene board to the wall structure of the traditional practices which made in double wooden board,attempts to use the double-glazed windows with the wooden frames;enhancing the moisture-proof anti-crack quality with the cement mortar and so on.This thesis also adopts current analyzing methods in architectural design field, employs advanced energy simulation software which simulates and analyzes the projects in which reformed construction measures is applied, and therefore provides practical measures from a sound and scientific perspective. At last, this paper employs an analysis of the case study, gradually improves updated measures and concept, and provides an initial guidance and concepts for promoting applicable structural measures in future.
