Research On Material Selection Strategy Of New Vernacular Architecture

As a kind of building material,local materials have a long history of application in architecture.However,with the impact of contemporary globalization,the emergence of modern new materials and new construction technologies has gradually replaced the original use of traditional local materials and related processes.Materials with superior performance and modern technology meet people’s demand for modern architectural functions and weaken the connection between architecture and region.More and more architects began to reflect on the problems of modernism and began to pay attention to the local traditional culture and regional characteristics.Due to the absence of local architects,the construction techniques and architectural forms have not been effectively updated and optimized.With the re-introduction of vernacular architecture by contemporary architects,the reinterpretation of vernacular materials and the improvement of the traditional craftsmanship of vernacular materials have been made.It has created many examples and achievements of modern application of local materials.Firstly,this paper defines the new vernacular architecture and vernacular architecture,discusses the properties of different vernacular materials,and enumerates the natural and perceptual properties of vernacular materials.Based on the two attributes of local materials,this paper introduces the typical cases of bamboo,rammed earth,wood and stone for regional expression.In this way,a deeper study of local materials is carried out.Then by consulting literature and materials,this paper expounds the construction methods of these traditional local materials,analyzes the advantages and disadvantages of each construction method,as well as the innovation points.Secondly,the paper studies the improvement of contemporary technology on rural architecture and expounds the concrete measures of material improvement.Thirdly,combined with the construction practice of the 2017 deyang university construction competition in which the author participated,the construction methods of different local materials were analyzed,and the excellent works of other universities were compared horizontally.Finally,the selection strategies of local materials during the competition were summarized.Finally,through the analysis of the attributes of local materials,differentconstruction strategies of local materials,and the improvement of local materials construction technology,the design strategies of contemporary local materials are summarized and summarized in combination with their own practical activities.How to use local materials to express the design strategy of regional environment,humanity and technology characteristics.It is hoped that the author’s research on the material selection strategy of new vernacular architecture can provide some design techniques and construction methods worthy of reference for the construction of vernacular architecture in the future.
