Based on the theory of internal and external gear pump and planetary gear system, the planetary gear pump is invented. It not only inherit the gear pump's benefits such as compact in structure, small size, lightly weight, works reliable, cheap, not sensitive to the oil impurities, strong self-absorption ability, maintain easily, etc., but also solve the flow ripple, radial force balance, strong noise and other difficulties. Planetary gear pump is in line with trend of high-pressure hydraulic pump oriented and large displacement of modern design. In this paper, the following aspects have been studied:Firstly, it analyzes the operating characteristics of common gear pump comprehensive and introduces the structural principle of the planetary gear pump. On the basis of the meshing point displacement and its alternating rules, the planetary gear pump is classified. What's more, its flow characteristics are compared.Secondly, the solid planetary gear pump simulation model is established by tridimensional software. Then the modal analysis and gear motion simulation analysis about its structural components are given.In addition, it analyzes the leak links of planetary gear pump and provides the control measures about leakage. In order to capture the variation in the internal leakage flow field, finite element analysis software is used to do simulation analysis.Finally, in the case of the load and working conditions are known and the materials are selected, the mathematical model of planetary gear pump was established on the target of the smallest pulsating flow and minimal size.It employes optimization Toolbox for optimization design and gives the optimization results.
