Deep space exploration is a crucial way for human beings to develop and utilize space resources and conduct space science and technology innovation. In the field of deep space exploration, the successful operation of TT&C system is one essential element to ensure the success of the deep space exploration mission. Transponder, a core component for TT&C, plays an essential role.As for deep space probes TT&C system, there are some obvious conditions as long communication distance, large signal attenuation, and long time delay. These are the essential issues being researched for several years. The Ranging Code, one of them, is an important link for the range performance. Tausworthe code is one new ranging code for digital transponding, will be used for the deep space TT&C system because of its excellent performance. Therefore, this paper focuses on the research of Tausworthe code, its works including:Analyzes the principle of Tausworthe code;Minimum time-acquisition system and propose the requirements for PN code ;Simulate the Tausworthe code correlation performance, acquisition probability, acquisition time, square / half-sine wave shaping;Implement the system based on FPGA platform;Verify the function of the system;Finally, illustrate the actual application of the Tausworthe code ranging system.By this research, the digital processing unit of the Tausworthe code ranging system prototype has been achieved, including digital transmitter and digital receiver. Also, functional verification is conducted and the test result in laboratory of range accuracy is in decimeter level, this Tausworthe code ranging system can meet the requirements of the ground test system. The digital IF processing section of deep space Tausworthe code ranging system is first implemented in domestic.
