Fuel management is an important part in a coal-fired power plant related to 70% of the power generation cost. So how to improve fuel management level has been one of the most concerns of the coal-fired power plants. It is an important issue placed in front of all thermal power enterprise to strengthen coal management, to reduce fuel costs and to improve economic benefits. In view of the fuel management problems existed in Zhangjiakou Power Plant. Based on current situation analysis of the fuel management and with a long time of field survey and sufficient demonstration, a fuel real-time analysis and management system was developed with modern information technology and implemented in Zhangjiakou Power Plant. The system guarantees the fuel management data with timeliness, objectivity, and not more modification by seamless connection with the weighing, sampling and testing facilities. It ensures fuel data in each link not be intervented by human through the use of radio technology and encryption technique. It achieves fuel manegement whole-process control through real-time display of fuel data and state analysis in each link with WEB technology. This paper firstly analyzes the process and functional requirements of the fuel management. Then it discusses the overall plan, software and hardware platform building, system interface realization and the functional modules of the fuel real-time analysis system. At last, the application result of the software is summarized. The development and application of the system in Zhangjiakou Power Plant realizes whole process fuel control, closed cycle management, real-time analysis and aid decision making of fuel. It can eliminate the personal factor influences during the process of sampling, sample preparation and sample testing, and thus reduce the cost of fuel power generation and increase the economic benefits by reducing the heat value difference between the plant entering and furnace entering.
