As a powerful and systematic software, FALKO are widely used in the Urban Mass Transit System. In the earlier stage of the construction of the Rail Transit System, many important parameters related to time and economy can be derived from the operation and analysis of FALKO. Besides, in the later status this software can be used to conduct the TDCS system and CTC system to work in a proper way such that the load of the schedulers is reduced and the efficiency of the system is improved.The objective of this thesis is twofold. First of all, based on the theory about the operation and management of the Urban Mass Transit System, we discuss some time parameters involved in run-diagram of the rail, and the computational principle and method related to the rail traction. These provide theoretical foundations and mathematical models for the implementation of the software. Secondly, we design and realize the FALKO employing Visual C++ and the database of SQL Server.Specifically, we use the ADO database as the access technology in the software design which enables us to deal with the information of the trains and routes efficiently. As a useful tool for data structure, acyclic graph have the characteristic of binary tree and graph. Based on this type of data structure, we use the adjacency list to store data and then design the routine. We then give a scheme of assigning the number of trains according to different scenarios. In terms of multipurpose optimal method, this scheme is made to be optimal under the condition of given passenger flow. With a slight modification of some algorithms, this software can be to calculate some indexes in the transportation system as well. Accordingly, the proposed software has the characteristic of expandability and is of practical use.
