In last decades, the design of bridge has been developed from utility to aesthetic property and culture. In this process, the structure system and local mechanical behavior have become more and more complicated because of diversification and aesthetics. A lot of damages appear in some bridges, because the local stresses are unreasonable or structural measures are unfavorable. Therefore, the finite element analysis of the local structure is necessary. It can make the design of bridge more reasonable, and provide evidence for the design, operation and protection of the bridge.Taking the main bridge of Nanzhonghuan bridge in Taiyuan city of Shanxi province as the practical project, this thesis analyzes local force of the abutment, based on the whole analysis. Firstly, a brief review about the development of the concrete-filled steel tube arch bridge is given. The structure and the characteristics of the bridge are introduced. Secondly, based on the calculation theories and the finite element simulation method, the MIDAS/CIVIL model about the bridge integral analysis is built. The data of internal forces from all the construction phases and the typical relative abutments within the combination of load are extracted, and then put these data through ANSYS model to analyze the local force. As a result, according to the detail results of the local analysis, the local stress is rather large, and the local structure design of the abutment may be unreasonable to some extend.The results indicate that during the process of bridge design, to make the force clear, paying attention to local mechanical behavior analysis is necessary. The conclusion of this thesis is significant as reference to the same type of bridges and other kinds of bridges.
