Transmission system of ball typed globoidal cam is a new type transmission mechanism. It takes continuous transmission mechanism of globoidal cam as the core transmission component. Comparing with other transmission system, it has advantages of good performance, high efficiency, high speed, and high precision and so on. As a new type transmission system, it is suitable for the occasion of high speed and precision. So, thermal analysis on the mechanism is very essential. By analyzing the temperature field of the transmission system, thermal characteristics of the system in working process can be understood so as to optimize the mechanism well.According to the theories of tribology, heat transfer, spatial engagement, et.al, the paper analyzes the steady-state thermal characteristics of transmission system of ball typed globoidal cam in certain conditions. The detailed research contents are as follows:First, a new type transmission mechanism of ball typed globoidal cam is built, and the path of heat transfer in the system is analyzed. Then, arranging thermal nodes in the input and output system of the transmission mechanism respectively and drawing the thermal network diagram. Based on Kirchhoff's law, the equation of heat balance of each node in the system is written.Second, the calculation model of heat source, heat resistance and heat transfer coefficient are determined. Based on fixed parameters and computation data, using the LU decomposition method of MATLAB solves the temperature value of each node in the system, and the node-temperature diagram is drawn. Then, the result of temperature field distribution of the system in certain conditions is discussed. Finally, changing some parameters and analyzing the change law of temperature field of the mechanism.Third, according to the calculation result of thermal network, the ANSYS software is used for the simulation of the temperature field distribution of the input and output system of the transmission mechanism. Also, the change law of temperature with time of friction pair components is analyzed by finite element method, and the result of it is compared with that of thermal network method.Forth, some measures improving the temperature field distribution of the mechanism are put forward.Based on the research above, the theoretical analysis and simulation on the temperature field of the new type transmission system is accomplished, which not only lays a good foundation for the further analysis on the thermal stress and deformation of the system, but also provides important basis for the optimal design of the transmission mechanism.
