Apart from the general traits in materials applications such as high cost-performance ratio, capability, and excellent structural stability, fluoropolymers exhibit many distinguished characteristics as climate-resistant, waterproof, contaminated-resistant and so on. Fluoropolymers have many applications, such as industrial architecture, petroleum chemistry, automobile industry, aviation and spaceflight industry, chemical engineering, optics, disposal of spin article, disposal of cultural relic monument and micro-electronics. Therefore, it is necessary to make detailed investigations in the developments of fluoropolymers. In this article we investigated the homopolymerization of chlorotrifluoroethylene (CTFE) in suspension polymerization, and found out the better homopolymerization condition based on the yields and the fluorine contents of the homopolymers. Polychlorotnfluoroethylene (PCTFE) of nano-scale was syntherized after a regulator was introduced to the polymerization. The anticipating-performance of the PCTFE were achieved by the measurements of apparent density, tensiles, and the water contents. Furthermore, a fluorine end-capped PCTFE was synthesized using perfluorobiacylperoxides as initiators.Besides, we investigated the copolymerization of chlorotrifluoroethylene and ethylene in suspension polymerization, and found out the better copolymerization condition, including reaction duration, initial temper, stirring rate, based on the yields, the appearance and the fluorine contents of the copolymers. We get the experimental reactivity ratios of ECTFE copolymerization. Furthermore, the fluorine content, particle sizes, decomposition temperature and the morphological property of the bipolymers were tested by EA, laser dispersion, thermal analysis, SEM respectively. Finally, a fluorine end-capped ECTFE was synthesized using perfluorobiacylperoxides as initiators. We provide some experience for industrialization and application through PCTFE polymerization.
