Glue is an abundant resource of metalloid mineral, with characteristics of large specific surface area, adsorption, rheological properties, catalytic,But because of their structural limitations, the clay cannot be fully used, while modified clay has advantages in its abundant resources, cheap and high quality and is popular for using as catalysts.Clay modified is the only way to make efficient use of clay, modified clay must occupy a space on the fields of adsorbent, catalyst and filler. This paper mainly studies the modification of on palygorskite and sepiolite clay.Using modified clay to prepare catalyst, and through the determination of activity, specific surface area, XRD and SEM characterization, we know that there is a very close relationship between the modified clay activity and acid modified degree and non noble metal loading. The experiment of modified clay catalyst preparation showed that the surface area of attapulgite after acid modified is154.7m2/g, which has largely enhanced than the untreated attapulgite ore ratio surface area of75m2/g.The specific surface area of the sepiolite carrier is average above100m2/g, and increased about3times than of untreated crude sepiolite surface area of36.1m2/g, indicating that acid treatment can improve the specific surface area of clay minerals; And with different compound form. After loading Cu elements, there formed a variety of Cu phase in catalyst carrier, in addition to CuO species, there is a small amount of Cu2O and Cu species.XRD fingerprint analysis showed the effect of purification to copper leaching, after washing and pickling, the effect of attapulgite stone and sepiolite ore are obvious. After contrast of different copper content, the optimal ratio is5%, made a research of the effects of different calcination temperature, optimal calcination temperature is400℃.Calcined the clay minerals before flooding in the copper can improve the load capacity of copper.SEM showed that Cu is evenly dispersed on the surface of the catalyst and the channels of active component in palygorskite and sepiolite, when with for a moderate amount of Cu loading is achieved, there is no large aggregation of particles and achieve uniform dispersion.
