The development process of Heck reaction and the research situation of activated carbon were detailly introduced in this paper. On this basis, the work focused on how to prepare nano-Pd/C catalyst with high specific surface area cocoanut activated carbons, the coconut shell are produced in Hainan Province.First the coconut shell powder was hated to 500℃,then mixed in proportion 1:4 with KOH as activator, activation temperature at 800℃and activation time 1h. Specific surface area of activated carbon up to 3275 m2/g was prepared by this method. The research discovered that the reaction process between KOH and carbon has leading role, the potassium steam activation function is smallNanoparticle Pd/C catalysts supported on high specific surface cocoanut activated carbons have been prepared by the ultrasound-impregnation,it was found that Coconut shell activated carbon were oxidized by 10% hydrogen peroxide solution and ultrasonic treatment 30min is beneficialfor the grow of small palladium particles. The catalysts were characterized by surface area and pore size analyzer(SA), transmission electron microscope (TEM) and X-ray diffraction (XRD). The results show that microporous conducive to the growth of the small size palladium particles. The Pd/C catalysts with the size of palladium particles about 2 nm was successfully supported on coconut shell activated carbon which range of specific surface area are at 2800-3275 m2/g. When that catalysts are used to catalyze the Heck reaction, it can be completed in the air and ligand-free, the time of reactions are shorten from 8 hours to 6 hours, and those catalysts can be reused several times.
