The Study On Buddhist Furniture' Feature In The Han Area

"Buddhism furniture of Han areas" is defined for the monks and devotees offer sitting, lying or supporting and storing items of artifacts in life, ceremony, ritual or carried out all the relevant Buddhist activities in Buddhist temples. On the basis of the definition of "Buddhist furniture","Han areas" cleared the research scope.In recent years, due to the revival of the Buddhism, the increasing number of the Buddhists and the prosperity of the tourism-related activities, but the development did not bring attention to the Buddhism furniture, more attention seems to have invested in the luxurious buildings and spectacular. The long-term negligence of "Buddhism furniture of Han areas" results in the illegibility of its definition and characteristics. Therefore, Buddhist furniture in the traditional resident region of the Han people in China are studied in this thesis, analyze features in the aspect of classification, modeling, decoration, color, structure, material and function etc, and research its special culture. Afterward, more intuitive understanding about Buddhism furniture of Han areas, in order to provide the basis for further improve the system of characteristics.The thesis consists of six chapters, the second chapter is basic research, from definition and categories to analyze Buddhism furniture of Han areas. And according to the appearance of Buddhism furniture, it directly reflected its intrinsic special culture. The culture is divided into sacrificial culture, regional culture, class culture. The third to the fourth chapter based on the characteristic of the research method of furniture, from two aspects of art and technology to analyze the feature of Buddhism furniture of Han areas. The artistic style from three aspects:design, decoration and color, these factors determined the overall appearance of Buddhism furniture. While the structure, material and sculpture related to technical characteristics. To clearly recognized the influence about the culture of Han areas on the effect of Buddhism, while it produced far-reaching effect in utensils. But these furniture retain Buddhism unique decorative pattern and color in aspect of artistic characteristic. Analyze the functional characteristics of Buddhism furniture of Han areas in chapter five. The research from two aspects of useable and decorative of function. Discussion the relationship between the furniture and users, environment. Summed up the decoration function(the function of spirit) is always important than the use of function(the utility function).It is concluded that,(1)Through visited some Buddhist temples in Han areas, while collected and inducted these furniture in Buddhist temples. According to the function of usable divided into four categories, the first, provided the function of knelt, the second, placed and supported Buddhist utensils, the third, the furniture used in daily life, the fourth, decorative furniture. In four categories of furniture extracted some features about Buddhist furniture.(2)its decoration and color in addition to retain their religious character, also absorbed a large number of Chinese traditional pattern and color, it reflected the culture of Han areas and Buddhism, at the same time its composed of the feature of Buddhism furniture in Han areas.
