Children's needs are constantly changing because of physical, psychological development. Through field trips, the majority of real children's furniture on the existing market when they are designed do not make children as research subjects, and consider too much the preferences of the consumers - parents, neglect of children as a society independent body. Children are growing up, they have multi-level needs, the majority of children's furniture on the market is smaller adult furniture, this single children's furniture design concept can not meet the development requirements of the times. The subject aims to explore the furniture which can be growing with children and meet the functional and psychological requirements of children all ages by adjust and can help children to develop their living skills, fully reflects the respect for the social groups of children.The thesis divides the boundaries of the consumers and users of children's furniture, makes an in-depth study on the growth characteristics of the users of children's furniture. Through looking over a large number of literature, analysis of the physical, psychological and behavioral characteristics of children of all ages, divides Children into two stages of growth which contains3-6 years and 6-12 years of age. 3-6 years old children are in the preschool period which is a critical stage of cognitive and independence development, children know the world through playing. To be consistent with children's cognitive characteristics in this age, children's furniture should be simple, safe, easy to use, and can meet their need for play. 6-12 years old children are in the primary school stage, learning become a major behavioral activity, cognitive level has been greatly improved than the preschool. School-age children gradually emerge their subjective attitude of objective things, and they want to have their own independent living space. School-age children hope to communicate with people and build their own social circle. So, children's furniture must continue to grow and change to adapt to the changing needs of the children.By looking over large amounts of data, combining with the knowledge of child psychology, design psychology, ergonomics, and so on, making children as the research object, in theory proposed children's furniture growth design principles, including: security, equality and respect, ergonomics, a child-centered, adjustable. Explored the methods of growth design of children's furniture, further discussed from the size, color, function, and put forward the growth of cross-border design of children's furniture. The paper analyzes the material elements of furniture design and their characteristics, so that the design can select and use material according to properties.Finally, designing children's tables and chairs as the case of practice, According to the characteristics of children of different ages, to accommodate the demand for children of different ages, the size, color, function of the furniture can make a variety of adjustments. For the expression of the growth design of children's furniture provides a practical direction.
