The acetic acid plant of 600,000 tons/year in SOPO is first plant based on coal in China. The operation of plant achieves a good economic effect from starting and pushs the acetic acid technology based on coal in china. In this paper the study was carried out to satisfy the expansion of production capacity, the disposal capacity of feed gas increases from 18000Nm3/hr to 40000Nm3/hr.In this paper, material and energy balance of decarbonization and desulfurization process was listed.The capacity of columns, heat exchanger, pumps, pipelines, flashing groove, separating tin, ammonia cold equipment and instrument etc. were checked based on material and energy balance. Moreover, this paper proposed a general plan for revamping. The current equipment is used and the expenses of reform is cut down as much as possiable. Besides, an economic analysis between a new setting and a revised setting is carried out in this paper. In conclusion, the plan is feasible in technology and economy.
