In this thesis, large scale ZnO nanocubes, nanowindmills and nanospindles were prepared via a hydrothermal method and characterized by SEM, TEM, XRD and CL. Growth mechanism of several as-otained ZnO nanostructures were proposed, effect of several growth parameters on the morphologies of the as-synthesized products were also discussed.ZnO nanocubes are prepared by a simple hydrothermal method and the results show that the as-synthesized zinc oxide nanostructures own hexagonal wurtzite structure, and the product is very pure according to the result of TEM and XRD. The optimal growth conditions to synthesize the nanostructures were investigated by adjusting the reaction time, temperature, pH, etc.ZnO nanowindmill structures were synthesized in the ITO substrate, the surface of the as-synthesizd product is smooth. The reaction temperature, reaction time, alkali, etc were adjusted to explore the impact of these parameters on the morphologies of the synthesized product. A broad emission peak was found at 384,616 and 753nm, which showed that the products have an excellent optical property.Large scale nanospindles were synthesized in the ITO substrate. The products were characterized by XRD and SEM. The reaction temperation, reaction time, etc. were changed to study the effect of these parameters on the morphologies of the synthesized product.
