The Research On Chinese Fir Furniture Style Design Based On Its Physical Properties

This dissertation mainly discusses on the relationship between the physical characteristics of Chinese Fir and the style design of it, analyzing the Physical characteristics such as mechanical properties(bulk density, shrinkage, swelling, strength, wear), texture, color and skin texture, as well as the according characteristics of style design on it. Then conclude the design methods and principles of Chinese Fir furniture style design based on its physical characteristics.The structural performance of Chinese Fir has a main impact on the structural design of Chinese Fir furniture design. The structural of Chinese Fir furniture has two main methods, the first is box integrated furniture with mortise and tenon joints, the second is panel removable furniture with tenon both connectors. Compared to other tree species, the component modality of Chinese Fir is thicker, which makes it be linear and plane material, but rare in bulk of furniture design. The structural forms of pine wood are array, rabbet, frame, tabling and combination. The style of Chinese Fir can not only be clumsy, mellow and stocky, but also comely, proper and square.The texture of Chinese Fir mainly affects its functional interface design.
