Blend modification is an effective way to obtain polymer composites ofhigh performance. However, its prerequisite is that all kinds of materialsmust be mixed sufficiently. Therefore, it is necessary to ground the particlesof the raw material into fine powder. In this paper, the followinginvestigates have been done on the key technologies of the grinding devicefor polymer particles:(1) The grinding mechanism of polymer particles has been analysed.The stress analysis and calculation of the single particle have been carriedout under particular assumption. The accuracy of the stress analysis hasbeen validated by ANSYS modeling and simulation.(2) A new type of cone-shaped grinding device has been designed,whose size of the main structure has been determined by stress calculation.The tooth section and spiral track of both the dynamic and static grindingdiscs have been mainly studied, the best match of which has been obtained.(3) The different combinations of the tooth section of the staticgrinding disc and the spiral bevel angle of the dynamic one has beenmodeled under Pro/E, then simulated under ADAMS, which shows that thedesign is available.The above studies could contribute to the optimization and innovationof the grinding device for elastic-plastic materials, which have certaintheoretical and practical reference value.
