The laser materials of Tm3+and Tm3+, Yb3+ co-doped are widely used in medical, laser radar and atmospheric remote sensing because it can launch laser about 1.9μm. Thulium-doped potassium lutecium tungstate crystal [Tm:KLu(WO4)2] and thulium, ytterbium co-doped potassium lutecium tungstate crystal [Tm,Yb:KLu(WO4)2] are two kinds of new Raman laser crystal, and it is important to study the growth and performance characteristic of them.In this dissertation, Tm:KLu(WO4)2 and Tm,Yb:KLu(WO4)2 crystals grown by Top Seeded Solvent Growth (TSSG) method, using K2W2O7 as flux, and the process of crystal growth has been researched. X-ray powder diffraction analysis were given to the crystals, two kinds of crystals belong to monoclinic system with space group C2/c. The Raman spectrum and infrared spectrum of the crystals were measured, the vibration modes were analyzed and the existence of WOOW and WOW can be insured. The absorption spectrum of the crystals were measured, the peak of Tm:KLu(WO4)2 crystal at 691nm was found the strongest, and the band of Tm,Yb:KLu(WO4)2 crystal at 928-980nm was found the strongest and the broadest. The fluorescence spectrum of the crystals were measured, the strongest emitting wavelength of Tm:KLu(WO4)2 crystal and Tm.Yb:KLu(WO4)2 crystal were at 1 772nm and 1 774nm, correspond to the 3F4→3H6 transitions.Upconversion fluorescence spectrum of Tm,Yb:KLu(WO4)2 crystal was measured, and the corresponding upconversion mechanism was analyzed.
