As for the actual problems in the production and research in recent years of the Hailaer-Tamuchage Basin, researches on geochemical characters and resource of the source rock of different layers in Tanan depression have been developed. According to the previous achievements and conclusions, the evaluation of the source rock has been done in this thesis, by analysis of old and new wells'data. In this research, basin simulation methods, which are commonly used in research on evaluation of oil and gas resources, were used, including geohistory simulation by back stripping method, geothermal history simulation by combining of thermodynamics and geochemical method-method of inversion, hydrocarbon -generation history by kerogen degradation method and hydrocarbon expulsion history by compaction method. By using new theory and new data, researches on hydrocarbon-generation potential of the source rock in different layers of Tanan depression have been done and the distribution area of the effective source rocks has been determined, combining geological research. The whole project having been completed, many innovations have been achieved as follows:1.The evaluation criteria of source rock from three types of sedimentary facies zone are corrected and consummated, including brackish water, fresh water and paludal facies.2.The types, maturity and organic abundance of the source rock are evaluated. The results showed that, the source rock of Nantun Formation is the main source rock in Tanan depression, the criteria of which is middle-good with high organic abundance and the types of which are mainlyⅡ1 andⅡ2 with high maturity.3.Combing simulation experiment, oil inclusions and homogeneous temperature with the research on the buried history, thermal history and hydrocarbon-generation history being done, the results showed that the reservoir formation time of Nantun Formation and Tong-Bomiao Formation are respectively 125~107 Ma and 130~112 Ma.4.The hydrocarbon source rocks of the Tanan depression are mainly generating crude oil. In longitudinal, they are mainly distributed in Nantun Formation and they are secondly distributed in Tong-Bomiao Formation and Da-Moguaihe Formation. In plane, the hydrocarbon source rocks of the Tanan depression are distributed in west sub-sag, central sub-sag and east sub-sag.5. Using simulation system of the petroleum accumulation dynamics, the resource for the hydrocarbon source rock of Da-Moguaihe Formation, Nantun Formation and Tong-Bomiao Formation are calculated and the favorable areas are predicted. By genetic method, the total generated hydrocarbon is calculated to be 0.4189 billion tons of oil equivalent, oil resources 0.4146 billion tons; by expulsion hydrocarbon method, the total generated hydrocarbon is calculated to be 0.4389 billion tons of oil equivalent, oil resources 0.4331 billion tons.
