In this study, the Synergistic flame retardant of Ammonium polyphosphate / melamine / pentaerythritol / nano-magnesium hydroxide(APP/MEL/PER/nano-MH) and Melamine salt of pentaerythritol diphosphate / hydrotalcite(PDM/LDH) was prepared, and used for flame retardant epoxy resin. By oxygen index (LOI) test, exceptionally analysis (IR), thermogravimetric analysis (TG-DSC), electron microscopy (SEM) , Flame retardant of Intumescent flame retardant nanocomposites was researched, And analyzed the flame-retardant mechanism between intumescent flame retardant and inorganic nano-particles.There is synergistic flame retardant effect between APP / MEL / PER intumescent flame retardant system and nano-MH Retardants,when nano-MH was added the amount of carbon residue of EP which flame retardanted by IFR increased significantly.And whe the mass ratio of IFR(APP/MEL/PER) and nano-MH is 4:1, the LOI of EP reaches the maximum (28%); From the TG-DSC curves, the addition of nano-MH delayed the thermal degradation process of flame-retardant EP, which was due that during the Pyrolysis process nano-MH absorbed a lot of heat whic slowed down heating process, And nano-MH changes the structure of carbon layer, to promote the thermal degradation process of charring process, the carbon layer becomes more dense, hard, it makes sense to improve the flame retardant material. There is synergistic flame retardant effect between PDM and nano-LDH, Determined by mass ratio. A small amount of nano-LDH compound with PDM, the carbon yield of PDM can significantly increased; but the expansion volume did not change; IFR system, PDM / EP (21:75) added 4% of the nano-LDH which increased the LOI value of EP; Decomposition of EP became more gentle; nano-LDH can change the structure of the carbon residue; nano-LDH slowed down the decomposition of PDM, it can play a more effective flame retardant; Gas from the decomposition of PDM play a role of PDM's gas source , to make the carbon layer more compact; Metal oxides from the decomposition of PDM promoted polyphosphoric acid and phosphoric acid crosslinking, then the intensity of carbon layer became greater.
