The development and application of overflow on water-oil separation hydrocyclone are introduced. From the angle of numerical simulation, the flow field of oil-water separation hydrocyclone is simulated by using the Reynolds stress turbulence model and applying SIMPLEC algorithm. In order to further improve hydrocyclone separation properties, many kinds of new structure forms, such as bulge type, tapered type, gradually expanding type, W type and reverse-Y type are designed by changing the structure size of overflow.From the fluid flow rule, the velocity and pressure field distribution rule of hydrocyclone internal flow field are analyzed theoretically. The different structure forms of overflow are Compared, the influence of overflow on separation efficiency under the same kind of structure but different size and angle is summarized, the advantages and disadvantages of various structural forms are pointed out, then the ultimate overflow structure is determined.Experimental data and numerical simulation results are compared by studying the water-oil separation system. Can be seen that the basic trend of numerical calculation and practical measurement is consistent, and the theoretical calculation results have certain credibility, which testify the mathematical model and algorithm are feasible and the selected optimizing parameter is reasonable, the optimization results are better.This work provides certain theoretical basis and reference for the further research of water-oil separation hydrocyclone overflow structure optimization design.
